SHOW INFORMATION
Show Location and Directions to Chilhowee Park
The Jacob Building is located in Chilhowee Park near the Knoxville Zoo. Take Exit 392 from Interstate 40, following the signs to the Knoxville Zoo. After entering black iron gates of Chilhowee Park, proceed towards the Zoo. At bottom of a short hill, turn left through the old Zoo parking lot and stay on the left side. Proceed along a drive below a long building up on the hill to your left--that is the Jacob Building. Service entrances are on both ends of building. Choose an end from which to load. Parking ordinances must be observed. All surrounding parking lots are open to anyone but eventually may have parking fees charged (in the future).

Standards Commmittee Booth Review
The Guild's Standards Committee evaluates all exhibitor booths to assure that craft items presented for sale are in compliance with a member's juried category(ies) and that all booths are in compliance with building safety regulations. The evaluation of booths covers these important aspects: (a) adherence to juried category quality (b) presentation and (c) safety. The booth evaluation helps to insure that the Guilds' high standards are maintained and that crafts are displayed in an attractive and tasteful manner.

The Standards Committee is authorized to remove or to instruct removal of any non-conforming work and may require the removal of any display, displayed items, craft or otherwise that are considered incompatible with community or safety standards. Remember, this is a family show! Any irregularities noted on your booth evaluation are to be corrected before the show opens. Decisions of the Standards Committee or Show Committee are final. Questions regarding your evaluation or the proper means of correcting problems should be directed to the Standards Committee Chair: Dennis McAvoy.

IMPORTANT! Break Room (aka Members Lounge)
There are changes to the Members Lounge break room this year. The Jacob Building has an exclusive contract with the show concessionaire. We have permission for Karen Davis of Sunbright, Tennessee, to bring soup for the exhibitors; however, we must dramatically scale back the amount of other food that is brought to the Members Lounge area (located upstairs). We put Chilhowee Park at risk for breaking their contract with the concessionaire by having so much food available upstairs.

Exhibitors must be discreet about bringing in food for their own lunches. Coffee, tea, and hot water will still be provided by the Guild, but let's try to abide by their rules. We will take up a collection to cover Karen's cost of making the soup, so look for a donation container. Please bring your own drink cups to save on environmental impact and cost. Your cooperation in keeping this room clean is appreciated.

Guild Membership Meeting
Saturday morning, November from 9 am - 10 am. Join us at the meeting and enjoy some coffee or juice before the show opens. We will discuss Spring Show plans as well as other business.
Admissions Tickets
Your Guild member name tag is necessary for admission to the sales areas and for identification purposes. If you have lost or misplaced your nametag, contact Charlie Mead. Volunteer badges will be available at check-in for use by family or friends who assist you in your booth (two per exhibitor). Two complimentary tickets will be included in your show mailing. Give them to prospective new customers.

$1 Exhibitor Tickets

Show tickets are being offered to exhibitors at a steeply discounted price of $1 each. If you wish to purchase these tickets for your customers or friends, send a check and the number requested to Foothills Craft Guild P.O. Box 5087 Oak Ridge, TN 37831.
Show Postcards
Show postcards may be picked up after October 20 at the Upstairs Gallery in the Oak Ridge Mall or at the Laurel Theater on the corner of 16th Street and Laurel Avenue in Knoxville (Fort Sanders). You may also request cards by mail. Contact Karen Noggle at knoggle@onemain.com or 933-8436.
Booth Display
Staging and good display are an integral part of selling. Plan and construct displays in advance. Provide backgrounds and accessories which are compatible with your craft and the high standards of this show. Every item should be priced. All decorative materials such as loose fibers, bark, curtains, hangings, table covers, etc., should be fire treated in an approved manner.

Craft artists are to have for show, sale, or handout only items pertinent to their craft. Extraneous fliers, handouts, or services are not allowed except by approval of the Show Director at least one week prior to the Show and must not interfere with the Show's operation. The Foothills Guild does not condone soliciting of donations from members or by outside groups. However, we cannot control the activities of groups or individuals attending the show. Say no if you do not wish to donate to a group.

Booth Equipment Provided
  1. One chair
  2. White backdrop (8-foot) and white-curtained removable side rails (3-foot)
  3. 500 watts electricity provided. Bring your own extension cords.
Optional items such as tables, skirting, carpet, 8' side curtains, or additional electricity may be ordered from ToeZay Decorating Co. To have a copy of the contract sent to you, contact Karen Noggle at knoggle@onemain.com or 933-8436.
Booth Signs
The Guild will provide reusable booth signs with your name, city and booth numbers. The signs will either be hung up in your booth, or you may pick them up with hangers at check-in and display them on the tall 8-foot drape behind your booth. There will be a $10 replacement charge for any booth name signs damaged or missing after the show. Help by returning your booth signs and booth numbers to the check-out table at the end of the show.
Demonstrations
Demonstrations are integral to our craft show and help to educate customers about how the crafts are made. The Guild encourages each exhibitor to demonstrate his/her craft in their booth whenever possible. This also helps fulfill our stated mission of educating the public.

Due to the large number of participants in this year's Fall show, requests for additional booth space for demonstrations are not logistically possible. Read the newly revised Show Contract form and check the appropriate box if you are interested in being considered as a Featured Demonstrator in an upcoming show.

Volunteer Workers
Foothills members and the local community have been generous in providing volunteer workers to provide periods of lunch relief for craft artists. Booth-sitter volunteers will be identified by a Foothills Volunteer badge. Our volunteers are trying to meet the needs of many exhibitors and can only provide one half-hour of booth sitting per day. The Guild may not be held responsible for errors or losses that occur when your booth is staffed by a volunteer. Planning for volunteers should include the following:
  1. Specify if the volunteer is to make sales.
  2. Designate a near-by craftsperson who can help if necessary.
  3. Have all items priced clearly.
  4. Provide adequate monies for transacting business, but, for security reasons, no excess.
  5. Provide proper instructions on writing sales tickets, credit card sales, wrapping, etc.
Smoking And Refreshments
There is NO SMOKING in the Jacob Building. City regulations prohibit smoking anywhere in the building. City of Knoxville regulations prohibit alcoholic beverages on city property except with proper permit and insurance. No food is allowed in the exhibition areas. Refreshments and all eating will be confined to the Members Lounge break area or to the Concessions areas.
Children and Pets
Show participants are fully responsible for any of their children who attend the show for any reason. Make outside arrangements for infants and toddlers. Pets, except guide dogs, are not permitted at the show at any time.
Door Prizes
We typically have door-prize drawings during the show. Consider donating an item of your choice to the main office (near front entrance) during Thursday set-up or prior to show opening on Friday. Any items not used during door prize give-aways will be returned to the artist if your name is on it.
Security
The Guild does not assume any responsibility stated or implied for any loss, theft, or damage of any stock or equipment at any time during the show. Check your own insurance coverage to be sure you have adequate loss and liability coverage. The Jacob Building will be locked at all times when not occupied and a hired security guard will be present on site from set-up of show on Thursday to close of show on Sunday. Contact the Show Director if you need more specifics about security.
Cancellations
Any participant wishing to cancel shall forfeit all fees and deposits. Exceptions may be made in instances of emergency, severe illness, death, or other contingency upon receipt of a written request from the member (or representative thereof).
Disciplinary Action
The FCG Board and/or its delegates reserve the right to take any action deemed appropriate for infractions of rules and policies or for any actions of non-compliance on the part of any exhibitor which puts the show, the participants, or the public at either inconvenience or jeopardy.
Televisions
The show's purpose is to show and sell your work. A television or radio in your booth disturbs your neighbors and customers. If you must watch TV for some reason, set up a television upstairs in the Break Room or somewhere else on the balcony and have someone take care of your booth in your absence. Keep the sound turned down to an appropriate level.
Storage of Inventory
The Show Committee will make every effort to provide storage to those who request it on their contracts. If your storage needs are excessive, use some of the space upstairs on the balcony of the Jacob Building. Booths along the outside wall have storage space behind them; booths in the center islands do not.
Telephone Use
Pay phones located near the main entrance to the building are for personal use. List the following number with family to be used for emergencies: (865) 522-4064. This is the number for the ticket office in the Jacob Building.
Check-Out Sunday
There will be two separate lines at check out, one for flat fee and one for commission. Be sure you are in the correct line and have all materials ready so you can progress efficiently.
THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT FALL SHOW.
