| SHOW INFORMATION |
Show Location and Directions to Chilhowee Park
The Jacob Building is located in Chilhowee Park near the Knoxville Zoo. Take Exit 392 from Interstate 40, following the signs to the Knoxville Zoo. After entering black iron gates of Chilhowee Park, proceed towards the Zoo. At bottom of hill, turn left and stay to the left side of parking lot. Proceed along a drive below the hill to your left--the long, low building is the Jacob Building. Service entrances are on both ends of building and back. Choose an end or door from which to load. Parking ordinances must be observed.

Standards Commmittee Booth Review
The Standards Committee evaluates all booths prior to show opening to assure that craft items presented comply with a member's juried category(ies) and that all booths conform to building safety regulations. The evaluation covers these important aspects: (a) adherence to juried category (b) quality (c) presentation and (d) safety. The booth evaluation insures that the Guilds' high standards are maintained.
The Standards Committee is authorized to remove or to instruct removal of any non-conforming work and may require the removal of any display, displayed items, craft or otherwise, that are considered incompatible with community or safety standards. Remember, this is a family show!
Any irregularities noted on your booth evaluation are to be corrected before the show opens. Decisions of the Standards Committee or Show Committee are final. Questions regarding your evaluation or the proper means of correcting problems should be directed to the Standards Committee Chair: June Crowe.
Featured Demonstrators and Other Demonstrations
Molly Durr is in charge of Featured Demonstrators. She will be available during set-up on Thursday. The Guild encourages each exhibitor to demonstrate hiscraft in his booth whenever possible. This helps fulfill our stated mission of educating the public. Requests for additional booth space for demonstrations are not logistically possible. Please read the 2005 Show Contract and mark the appropriate box if you would like to be considered as a “Featured Demonstrator” for a future show.
Marketplace Collection (Group Sales Booth)
Kathy Bradley is in charge of the Group Sales booth for the 2004 show. Please direct all questions to her.
Exhibitor's Break Room Members' Lounge--Upstairs on Balcony
The City of Knoxville has an exclusive contract with the downstairs food concessionaire. We have permission for Karen Davis of Sunbright, Tennesssee, to bring soup for the exhibitors; however, we must dramatically scale back the amount of other food that is brought to the Members' Lounge area. It is fine to bring your own lunch, but the pot-luck style of the past will need to be scaled back. Please be discreet about bringing in food for sharing with others, and eat only in the break area upstairs. Coffee, tea, and hot water will be provided by the Guild. We will take up a collection to cover Karen’s cost of making soup, so look for a donation container in the break area. Bring your own drink cups to save on environmental impact and cost. Mary Souder (Colette’s daughter) will be in charge of managing the break room, but your help in keeping it clean will be appreciated.
Guild Membership Meeting
Saturday morning, November 13, from 9 am to 10 am. Please join us at the meeting and enjoy some coffee or juice before the show opens. Bring a breakfast item to share, if you wish. We will discuss general Guild business and plans for the 2005 Spring event near Market Square.
Admissions Tickets
Your Guild member nametag is necessary for entry into the show and for identification purposes. If you have lost or misplaced your nametag, contact Charlie Mead immediately. Volunteer badges will be available at check-in for use by family or friends who assist you in your booth (2 per exhibitor). Included in this mailing are 2 complimentary tickets. Please give them to prospective new customers.
Show Postcard Mailers
All exhibitors living outside of the Knoxville - Oak Ridge area will receive show postcards in this packet. The limit for each exhibitor is 100.
Knoxville residents: Show postcards may be picked up at the office of the Arts & Culture Alliance in the Emporium Building at 100 South Gay Street in downtown Knoxville (corner of Gay and Jackson), Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm.
Oak Ridge residents: Postcards may be picked up at the Upstairs Gallery in the Oak Ridge Mall, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 6 pm.
Booth Equipment Provided
- One chair
- White backdrop (8-foot) and white-curtained removable side rails (3-foot)
- 500 watts electricity provided. Bring your own extension cords.
Optional items such as tables, skirting, carpet, 8' side curtains, or additional electricity may be ordered from ToeZay Decorating Co. (Order form is enclosed.)
Booth Signs
The Guild will provide reusable booth signs with your name, city, and booth numbers. The signs will either be hung up in your booth or they will be available at check-in. Display them on the tall 8-foot drape behind your booth. There will be a $10 replacement charge for any booth name signs damaged or missing after the show. You must take down and return your booth signs and booth numbers to the chek-out table at the end of the show.
Booth Display
Staging and good display are an integral part of selling. Plan and construct displays in advance. Provide backgrounds and accessories which are compatible with your craft and the high standards of this show. Every item should be priced. All decorative materials such as loose fibers, bark, curtains, hangings, table covers, etc., should be fire-treated in an approved manner.
Craft artists are to have for show, sale, or handout only items pertinent to their craft. Extraneous fliers, handouts, or services are not allowed. The Foothills Guild does not condone soliciting of donations from members or by outside groups.
Door Prizes
We have daily door-prize drawings during the show. Please consider donating an item of your choice to the main office (near front entrance) during Thursday set-up or prior to show opening on Friday. Any items not used during door prize give-aways will be returned to the artist, if your name is on it.
Volunteer Booth Sitters
Foothills member, Sal Smith, is working very hard to organize volunteers to provide a 30-minute lunch break for all exhibitors who requested this service on their show contract. Booth-sitter volunteers will be identified by a Foothills Volunteer badge. Our volunteers are trying to meet the needs of many exhibitors and can only provide one half-hour of booth sitting per day. The Guild may not be held responsible for errors or losses that occur when your booth is staffed by a volunteer.
Planning for volunteers should include the following:
- Specify if the volunteer is to make sales.
- Designate a near-by craftsperson who can help if necessary.
- Have all items priced clearly.
- Provide adequate monies for transacting business, but, for security reasons, no excess.
- Provide proper instructions on writing sales tickets, credit card sales, wrapping, etc.
If you know of a spouse, family member, or friend who can help us by volunteering,
please call Karen Noggle at 933-8436.
Security
The Guild does not assume any responsibility stated or implied for any loss, theft, or damage of any stock or equipment at any time during the show. Check your own insurance coverage to be sure you have adequate loss and liability coverage. The Jacob Building will be locked at all times when not occupied and a hired security guard will be present on site from 5 pm on set-up Thursday, November 11, until 8 pm, Sunday, November 14. Please contact the Show Director if you need more specifics about security.
Telephone Use and Emergency Phone Number
Pay phones located near the main entrance to the building are for personal use. The number for the ticket office in the Jacob Building may be used only for emergencies: (865) 522-4064. Exhibitors may call Karen’s cell phone 865-207-7710 on set-up day, Thursday, November 11--but only for important contacts, please.
Check-Out Sunday--starts at 5:15 pm--no sooner!
There will be two separate lines at check out: one for flat fee and one for commission. Be sure you are in the correct line and have all materials ready so you can progress efficiently.
Cancellations
Any participant wishing to cancel shall forfeit all fees and deposits. Exceptions may be made in instances of emergency, severe illness, death, or other contingency upon receipt of a written request from the member (or representative thereof).
Disciplinary Action
The FCG Board and/or its delegates reserve the right to take any action deemed appropriate for infractions of rules and policies or for any actions of non-compliance on the part of any exhibitor which puts the show, the participants, or the public at either inconvenience or jeopardy.
Televisions
A television or radio in your booth disturbs your neighbors and customers. If you must watch TV for some reason, set up a television upstairs in the Break Room and have someone take care of your booth in your absence. Please keep the sound turned down to an appropriate level.
Children and Pets
Show participants are fully responsible for any of their children who attend the show for any reason. Please make outside arrangements for infants and toddlers. Pets, except guide dogs, are not permitted at the show at any time.
Storage of Inventory
The Show Committee will make every effort to provide storage to those who request it on their contracts. If your storage needs are excessive, use some of the space upstairs on the balcony of the Jacob Building. Booths along the outside wall have storage space behind them; booths in the center islands do not.
Smoking and Refreshments
There is NO SMOKING in the Jacob Building. City regulations prohibit smoking anywhere in the building. City of Knoxville regulations prohibit alcoholic beverages on city property except with proper permit and insurance. No food is allowed in the exhibition areas. Refreshments and all eating will be confined to the Members' Lounge break area on the balcony or to the Concessions areas downstairs.
THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT FALL SHOW.
